Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva wrote books in many places due to adverse environment and traveling to preach the religion. He also composed various sections of the Kirtan Ghosa in different places. After the death of Sankaradeva, his beloved disciple Madhavade advised his sister-in-law Ramcharan Tagore to collect and edit the various parts of the Kirtan Ghosa. According to that advice, Ramcharan Tagore collected the fragments of kirtan and handed them over to Madhavdev in 1596 AD.
